Services for Parents

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent-child Interaction Therapy is a behavioral training program for parents of 2- to 7-year-old children with oppositional and disruptive behaviors. Through live coaching, therapists observe and coach parents in specific play therapy and discipline skills.

PCIT teaches parents the skills to:

  • strengthen positive parent-child feelings and interactions
  • improve child cooperation and behavior
  • decrease parenting stress

Parent Coaching

The Southfield Center offers an array of services to aid parents, from individual supportive therapy to parent support groups and workshops. For the parents of children with more significant behavioral and emotional challenges we offer structured, evidence-based protocols.

Parent Management Training

Parents of children with challenging behaviors may be helped by shorter, targeted parent interventions and consultations focusing on positive attention and consistent rule setting.
