Will McDonough

Will McDonough is an experienced teacher and learning coach who works with students to develop their writing and strengthen skills in the area of executive functions. He brings to the Southfield Center twelve years of classroom teaching experience at New Canaan Country School where he serves as history department chair and teaches 7th and 8th grade English and social studies, as well as 9th grade Life Skills. Will also serves as co-Director of Service Learning for the school. Prior to New Canaan Country School, Will taught high school history at Wasatch Academy in Utah. Will’s thoughtful and compassionate approach to developing relationships with his students is highly regarded by fellow colleagues and his students’ parents. He is curious, energetic, and inspired by the students with whom he works. Will earned his Master’s degree in Global Studies in Educational Leadership from the University of Illinois as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education from Middlebury College. Will has been working with children since his 15 years spent as a camper, leader and senior staff member at Camp Belknap in New Hampshire and founded and directed his own camp for boys in Redding, CT in 2015. He is an accomplished runner, father of three, and published author. Will loves working alongside children and is excited to be a part of the Southfield Center team.
